Happy Easter

Our kids may be 14 years old ~ but I refuse to let the thrill of the Easter Bunny visiting. I recently joined a quilting group on FaceBook and saw this cute little project. So what's better than making them for the ones you love the most.

(Front)

(Back)

I used 2 different fabrics and cut 2 10" squares out of each. I also doubled up on the batting - the batting I have just doesn't seem thick enough. Place the fabrics right side together and the batting underneath both. Sew a 1/4" seam around leaving a couple inches un-sewn to help with turning it inside out.

After turning the fabric inside out, sew a 1/4" seam around the entire square.

I continued to sew a 1/4" square all the way around until I reached the center.

Oh! Try to remember to check your bobbin to make sure you actually have enough thread to complete a project (unfortunately, I did not do this!)…excuse the brief interruption while I watch some tv and wind a bobbin.......

Okay back to the project....which I'm still sewing a 1/4" square

I would like to know if it's suppose to bubble up in the center ~ cause mine does.

Yep!! Finally got to the center....now fold the square in half and mark the corners at 2". Which ever side you would like to be the inside of the box, make sure it's facing you while doing this step.

And sew where you've marked. Now turn in the other direction and mark 2" again on the corners.

You'll get something that looks a little odd like this....after the four corners have been sewn, turn it right side out.

This is the finished product - and below is another example of exactly how cute these really are.

The four corners can either be left up - kind of looks like a flower, stitch it down…or use cute decorative buttons.

Here's the link to the pattern I used:
