Smell the "beignet"

Oh how I love the smell of hot "beignets"...well they are actually canned biscuits, cut in 1/2 or 1/4 depending on what type of biscuits your using.…

Anyways, we were due for some unpleasant weather - so I decided to fry something to cure the anxiety.

So I popped open a can of Grande biscuits and decided to cut them in 1/4

My excitement bubbles over...so now I'm heating up the wonderful cast iron full of pre-creamed shortening, added two cups of powdered sugar into a brown paper bag, and a plate covered a plate with paper towels; it helps soak up that wonderful grease.

I wish you (who ever is reading this!) knew my excitement!!! This next step only gets better...time to start dropping the biscuits in the oil.

Oh! Wait it gets a WHOLE LOT BETTER…

Plop! Plop! Bubble Bubble…what did you think this was? An alka-seltzer commercial...Ha Ha

Okay so these are a little darker than I like them to be - but have you ever be so excited to enjoy something; cooking and photo taking is just simply difficult, but the cooking must go on.

So after they are fully cooked; remove from oil & drop into brown bag of powdered sugar & shake "ya tail-feather"....place on plate covered with paper towels...move quickly & eat one (or some!) before the kids get them!!!

Too late…I wasn't quick enough!!

Look at the precise choosing - she says it's a skill.

Happy Cooking!!
